Dermaplaning is a method of physical exfoliation using a sterile, surgical scalpel to gently shave the skin's surface, removing the top-most layer of dead skin along with fine, vellus hair (aka peach fuzz). This painless procedure leaves the skin more silky smooth than other exfoliation techniques due to the hair removal process. Your skin will be noticeably brighter and smoother, allowing for easy application of other skincare products and makeup. Will my facial hair grow back darker? Not at all. Hair on the face is a type known as villous hair, rather than the dark, thick terminal hair that grows elsewhere. Shaving does not in any way cause vellus hair follicles to transform into terminal hair follicles.
